The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a list of tasks to be acomplished during a project. Depending on the levels of details available in WBS, it can be categorized as follows:

  • High-level: It contains major components to be delivered. Generally, written by project sponsors therefore it is very abstract.
  • Low-level: It comprises of functional details of task. It is writen by project teams involved during implementation.

Based on WBS, the PERT or CPM project network diagram techniques are applied to estimate the project schedule.
